What materials is the HappyVappy made of?
The element is constructed of a ceramic core with a stainless steel sheath around it (in other words, it's isolated).
The reservoir is constructed of aluminum which was found to be the most appropriate material for this application. The following quote is from some of the research we did on aluminum - it comes from an article posted about cookware on Sierra Club's site: "Anodized aluminum, the metal used by Calphalon and other brands of high-end cookware, is also safe because it doesn't scratch as easily as cheaper brands and is nonreactive to highly acidic foods such as tomatoes and citrus products. At least you needn't worry that using aluminum products will increase your chances of getting Alzheimer's disease. In the 1960s, researchers announced that elevated levels of the element were found in the brains of Alzheimer's patients. But since then the link between the two has been repeatedly disproved. "Aluminum is the Elvis Presley of Alzheimer's," says Dr. David Knopman, an M.D. in the Neurology Department and Alzheimer's Disease Research Center at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. "For some reason the idea that they are related just won't die."
The outside shell is made of nylon and is well insulated from the element and core.
The mouthpiece is made of Teflon which is a heat resistant inert plastic to 450°F (HappyVappy can only reach 395°F).
One thing to note is that the path of air through the unit is isolated from any plastic in the unit, and only travels through metal or ceramic components. ^top

It takes just 3 minutes for your HappyVappy to reach operating temperature. ^top

Does the HappyVappy work in my country?
Right now the HappyVappy is available for 110V systems (North/South America) but can be used with a converter anywhere in the world. Development of a 220V version is currently underway. ^top

Some vaporizers that I've seen get really hot to the touch. What about HappyVappy?
HappyVappy is well insulated and never ever gets too hot to handle or hold. HappyVappy emits a pleasant warmth - chilly evenings here at HappyVappy headquarters often find us fighting over who gets to snuggle on the couch with HappyVappy. ^top

How big is HappyVappy?
HappyVappy is just 5 inches tall! The base unit dimensions are: 3”L 2”W 5”H. Operating size depends on the size of stem you use It is designed to be comfortable grasped with one hand. ^top

Why is there no temperature control on the HappyVappy?
When the electronics of a vaporizer are researched and spec'd properly, there is absolutely no need for a temperature control. A narrow window of temperature variation keeps HappyVappy at optimal vaporization temperature at all times. Customers who have used HappyVappy have been really happy with its simplicity. Who wants to fuss when all you want to do is relax? ^top

How long do I have to wait between pulls on a HappyVappy?
With some vaporizers on the market, you have to wait to allow the unit to heat up or cool down between pulls or uses. Not with HappyVappy. Inhale-hold-exhale and repeat as desired! This makes HappyVappy great for use in groups too - just take a pull and pass it along. ^top

Can I leave the mouthpiece in the unit when it's on?
Absolutely. We actually recommend that you do. There's no reason to take the mouthpiece off except to fill or empty your HappyVappy. On another note - do not block the mouthpiece with anything while the unit is running. ^top

My HappyVappy makes a kind of purring sound periodically. Is that normal?
Yes! The purring sound that you hear is the internal temperature regulator doing what it's supposed to be doing - keeping your HappyVappy at the perfect temperature for vaporization. ^top

Do the herbs that I'm going to use in my HappyVappy need any special preparation?
Very little! Don't grind your herbs for HappyVappy. Chunky pea-sized pieces work best. For you techies out there - that's about 5/16". ^top

I just received my HappyVappy and noticed some brown discoloration on the metal reservoir. What is it?
Before any HappyVappys go out the door, the temperature and power functions are tested. The discoloration is the result of the little bit of olive oil that we put in the reservoir during testing. ^top

Can I use my HappyVappy outdoors? Could condensation erode the unit?
You can use it at any outside temperature. In fact it makes for a great hand warmer on chilly days. Condensation should not be an issue as the warmth of the core will evaporate it, as long as you bring it back inside when you are done. However, DO NOT get it wet or use it in or around water - in other words keep it out of the hot tub! ^top

Can I clean the mouthpiece?
Absolutely! Just remove the mouthpiece and clean it with regular dishsoap and warm water or with rubbing alcohol. Alternatively you can run it through the dishwasher in the cutlery basket. The Vappy Packer is a good tool for removing any buildup on the inside of the mouthpiece. ^top

Should I clean the inside of the core occasionally?
Aside from emptying the core of spent herbal material, cleaning the inside of the core isn't really necessary. The core will naturally turn a dark color over time. If you do find that there is a buildup of resin, you can scrape it out with your Vappy Packer when the unit is cool. ^top

Is there a warranty on my HappyVappy?

HappyVappys are shipped in plain boxes with an address label (you) and a discrete sender label. For shipments that are going outside of Canada, we attach a small label describing the contents as an "aromatherapy diffuser". ^top
